Starfall Lesson Plan
(Combining printed and online resources)
I purchased the full package from Starfall. So I had the workbooks, cut and make readers, the book readers,
and sticker set. If you only wanted to purchase the workbooks you can substitute the cut and make books
and the full reader with reading the story on the Internet again. I tried to vary the activities with written,
paper, and online activities. I tried to coordinate the workbook pages in the Learn to Read level to the online
activities as much as possible therefore some of the lesson will not assign the workbook pages in order. I
believe in sight words so for that reason I make sight word cards for my children and drill those everyday not
matter what other lesson we are doing. Since I have the stickers I decided to give one out as each section
was completed this is marked with a reminder on the lesson plan. If you don’t have the sticker just skip or
substitute other stickers you have. Where it says sight words on the lesson plan that is a reminder to make
the cards not drill them. I drill every day. (I use the 3 in a row gone for a week, then 2, 3, and 4 weeks after
that the cards are filed.) The cut and make book comes with the Learn to Read level but the last few books
coordinate with the Artist’s section in the It’s Fun to Read section. If you are starting with this
section just
omit the Cut and Make assignments as you won’t have the Cut and Make Book. In the It’s Fun to Read
Section I tried to vary the reading selections. The workbook does not coordinate with the online readings so
feel free to use any order you want. I assigned the I’m Reading now stories in order. At the time this schedule
was created there wasn’t a third workbook. The Level 2 workbook can be used with a child starting with the
I’m Reading now section just follow the order of a story and a workbook section such as outlined in the lesson
plan under the It’s Fun to Read section. You could even go through the level 2 workbook a second time
requiring longer and more skilled writing.
